There are 21 short stories are
there in this collection in different
shades and tastes. It will cater to the needs of all the age group.
All these 21 stories some may
entertain, enthuse, excite and engage you.
some may inform, induce, inspire, apprise and advise you. Some may awake, evoke, amaze and arouse
you.
Majority of the stories are humorous. In
general there are two categories based on the readability.
Many of the stories are mostly fast reading,
the events, description, and the narration will have a humorous undertone. Some
of the stories are filled with funny, cheerful
and unexpected events.
Around fifty percent of the
stories are made in broad spectrum of environments like rural, urban, and
semi-urban. With reference to different characters, they are the
representatives of the concerned tracts.
For instance an orphan boy lost
his parents in recent days, is serving
as a cow boy for many families of a village, is the hero in one of my story. His one day programme from dawn to dusk i.e.,
grazing the cattle in the outskirts of the village like common lands around the
farming fields with the flash back of their parents demise, becomes a memorable story. Will stay with your heart ever. This
story ‘Kizhakeyum Sila Asthamanangal’ was kept as syllabus to Tamil M.A., in
Madurai Kamaraj University, may be in the year 1985.
Likewise you can enjoy the chain
of events happened with the result of a trivial fight between two average women folk living in a slum apartment as of north madras leads to a major
unexpected damage.
‘Thanivu ‘ is another beautiful story describes about the every
single details of the tree climbers (Sanar, Kramini or Naadar) profession like
extracting Neera, Palm Jaggery making, Toddy making, etc. and a thin story
thread but strongly registers the retaliation power in his own way against the
caste discrimination. I believe this story was published in Dhinamani Kathir.
Almost all the stories are rooted
from the soil around my own village in south arcot district in the bank of
Pennayar river, where I lived during my early days, then around Madurai and
Chennai when I was employed in All India Radio.
The stories compiled in this
collection differs in structuring and formatting which may help to give
different shades and color to them. For
this I need to thank All India Radio which gave me lot more opportunities to
handle several formats of programmes for
broadcasting.
The entire list of stories
accommodated in this collection will be interesting and any one can read within
single breath and keep in your mind and heart forever.
